With my daughter about to start pre-school this September at the age of 2 this is a question that has been on my mind lately. This article looks at the question of whether the age of 4 is too early for children to start school and if there should be more emphasis on play and less on academia. Personally the thought of my little girl going off to school at 4 terrifies me somewhat. Whilst she is fairly advanced for her age, it does seem children are forced to grow up too fast in the UK. I think at 4 children should be encouraged to be children instead of having to achieve academically.
