If you like your burger cooked on the rare side then you may soon find it is difficult to order one. It appears officials are starting to crack down on restaurants that offer rare burgers. After a routine inspection by environmental health officers Westminster council have challenged the way that one restaurant serves it’s burgers. The case has now gone to the high court and the results are likely to set a legal precedent as to whether or not diners can continue to order their meat rare. One one side the council maintains that the rare meat could pose a threat the peoples health but on the other the restaurant maintain that their meat is prepared and cooked to strict safety guidelines and is safe to eat rare. As someone who does prefer to order a medium rare steak I will be watching this with interest.
