Diseases such as scurvy and rickets which have not been seen in Britain since wartime are making a return claims this article. It seems the rise is down to the poor diet of many families. Doctors have warned that food standards in the UK are worse now than during the war. The lack of vitamins from fresh and fruit and vegetables is largely to blame for the problem. It would be interesting to find out what most children eat. Mine certainly have a high intake of fruit and veg but we do also rely on some convenience food such as fish fingers or chicken nuggets to get us through those busy days.
