This is interesting its a scheme which could see stairs being fitted with calorie counting signs as part of a drive to boost exercise amongst office workers. In a trial three large office buildings were fitted with signs showing how many calories could be burnt by climbing the stairs. This had the effect of increasing the number of people using the stairs by 29%. Personally I would always rather use the stairs than the lift. I put this down to being stuck in one too many lifts whilst I was at university, I just don’t trust them any more. This idea wouldn’t change my habits but if it makes others choose to exercise more I guess it can’t be a bad thing.
