It always amuses me when the government chooses to interfere on things they should stay well clear of. The latest idea is to introduce shopping vouchers for breastfeeding mothers in Yorkshire. Whilst I can see what the government thinks it is trying to do, in making breastfeeding more appealing to mothers, I think the scheme is ultimately a bad idea. Whether or not you breastfeed is I think a personal preference and there is currently so much emphasis put upon breastfeeding that those who can’t feed are already made to feel like they are a bad mother. Personally I think more emphasis should be on supporting rather than alienating these women.
