As a married woman I may soon be in the minority. That’s according to this article which claims married couples will be in a minority by 2050. A report from The Centre for Social Justice has found that marriage is increasingly only happening amongst the middle and upper classes with only about half of new parents on low incomes being married. The CSJ has criticised the government’s failure to tackle family breakdown and has called for a transferable tax allowance for marriage couples as a way of promoting marriage.
