I hadn’t occurred to me before reading this article that we have eaten in the garden nearly every night for the past 2 weeks without encountering a wasp. In our garden this is indeed strange. We have a large number of fruit trees and usually many wasps. It seems that this year has been particularly bad for wasps with the fluctuating temperatures at the beginning of year encouraging wasps to come out hibernation too early when there was no food for them. I can’t say I am missing them but I do wonder how the decline might affect other creatures which use them as a food source.
