Is the question asked in this article after a Sainsbury’s employee refused to serve a lady who was having a conversation on her mobile whilst checking out her shopping. The poll in the article currently shows that 1,547 people believe it is rude whilst only 196 believe it’s everyday part of modern life. Personally I think it’s polite to end your conversation and pay attention to the supermarket cashier who is trying to do their job. They inevitably have a number of questions they have to ask you in order to complete the transaction, I believe you would struggle to answer these when engaged in another conversation. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t seem to have any manners any more, much as those who when sitting down on a train decides to call everyone in their phone book to the delight of the other train passengers.
