A study carried out at Tel Aviv University has found that in the buttocks of inactive people, muscle was shrinking and breaking down due to lack of exercise. This could mean that those with desk jobs could see their backside expanding. The article goes on to detail some ways to counteract the problem with some handy tips such as drinking more water and eating less sugar. Personally I think the best solution is to get off your backside and go for a run.
