I rarely get time to eat out these days so I am still yet to sample the masses of restaurants that Sevenoaks has to offer. One I have been meaning to try for a while is El Matador an Argentinian restaurant in the centre of town.
The restaurant has a fairly varied menu including tapas, pizza and various grilled meats, however, what tempted me was the steak cooked on a hot rock at the table. The rock is heated to a very high temperature and you basically cook your choice of steak to perfection as you want it. I chose the fillet steak with a side order of French fries and a blue cheese sauce. The steak arrived seared on the outside and well seasoned. I do like my steak rather rare so I sliced it and gave it a couple of minutes on the hot rock. I was initially sceptical about being trusted with a £30 steak but it was cooked to perfection and was a very tender steak.
I had room for dessert so ordered a chocolate fondant pudding with ice cream whilst my husband went for the chocolate brownie explosion. I must admit after eating the majority of both they were very nice. Whilst not a cheap meal at just over £80 for 2 including a glass of wine, it was very good and I will certainly be going back, perhaps next time I will try the tapas.
