A someone who suffers from IBS I have found that the tap water in my hometown of Sevenoaks, particularly triggers the condition. I have only been able to put it down to the fluoride in the water and now only drink bottled water. I was a little surprised to read this article about the high levels of fluoride found in some foods, particularly in teas bags. In this article some supermarket brands were found to contain between 75 and 120% of the recommended daily intake. The problem seems to be specific with the supermarket own brands with brands like PG Tips, Twining’s and Typhoo containing lower levels. I think for people like myself who have an intolerance it would be useful to know which products are less likely to make me ill.
