The dry days followed by rain at night has created the ideal growing conditions for weeds. I spent a day at the allotment yesterday and hardly made a dent in it. I did, however, get the courgettes, pumpkin and squash plants in the ground but unfortunately ran out of time to do the sweetcorn. It looks like this will be a job for next weekend. The plot is looking a bit neglected despite spending a day on it every other weekend. The weeds and grass are simply growing faster than we can cut them. I am planning to drop a lot of old carpet up to the plot to cover it so hopefully we can start winning the battle against the weeds and continue with digging out more beds.
